ATTENTION - Chemical Information

I felt that this warrented a brief seperate post.  All the fertilizer and hebacide that will be used from now on is fairly benign, it absorbs into the plants in a few hours.  While you do not want to allow you child to eat several fistfulls of grass, it is safe for pets and playing in a short period of time.

In addition, there is virtually zero run off - so the river is safe.

Spring 2010 update

The following topics were presented to the HOA Board on May 11th.

- A fertizer application is scheduled for mid to late June and early September to all the turf areas.  The goal is to increase the the density, color and create a lawn that is better able to compete with weeds.  This is year 2 of a 5 year program.

- Weeds will be sprayed through out the spring. A very inexpensive action that makes a big difference.

- Hovde Properties continues to work on and adjust the irrigation system.  Specific projects this summer will be digging up and reburying all the sprinkler heads that are sitting to high and capping unnessecary heads. Some of us will be walking the campus frequently to identify areas that are being over watered and turning to swamp.  ***** We need your help, if you see something that needs adjustment feel free to call me at 579-2213.  I will add it to a weekly list****

- The areas of native grass (infields in middle of chalet circles, between condo buildings and along property line burms) will NOT BE MOWED this year.  They will be seeded with native grass seed and be allowed to grow and go to seed this fall.  The areas will be included in weed spraying.  In two years, these areas will look a lot better.  The goal in a few years is to have a native grass that can be mowed to ankle height for playing fields.  If you have questions about this stratagy, please contact us and we are happy to listen to other ideas.

- Large stones will be replaced or agmented at busy corners to help keep folks from parking on the lawn.

- Dead trees will be removed.  It is our hope that money will be availible to replace them soon, private sponsorship of trees is encouraged.  Please talk to us to hear more.

- Troubled trees will get fertizler spikes to help them along.

- The mulch walkways will recieve attention, we are looking at several options with the wood boarders to make it safer and look better.

Sam and I will present our top 3 major projects at the next board meeting.

Again, we want to hear you voice.

Chris.
